Instrument manufacturers have not provided workable solutions . . .

. . . and scientists struggle to handle the ever-increasing amounts of data that these instruments generate. Biotrue's CDMS is a robust solution.

Martin Bigos
Director, Flow Cytometry Core
The J. David Gladstone Institutes

Lab Profile

The J. David Gladstone Institutes focus on three of the most pressing health problems facing the world today: cardiovascular disease; virology and immunology, with emphasis on HIV/AIDS; and neurological disease. The Flow Cytometry Core at Gladstone provides specialized research services to investigators at all three Institutes, as well as to collaborators and colleagues at San Francisco General Hospital and the University of California, San Francisco. The Core operates three benchtop flow analyzers and one cell sorter. These resources are available to all Gladstone researchers, researchers within the San Francisco General Hospital and UCSF communities, and other academic and commercial entities.

CDMS Solution

The Gladstone Flow Cytometry Core is implementing a Biotrue CDMS solution to solve two critical problems: better managing the hundreds of files of data generated weekly by researchers, and improving the level of service provided to researchers in all three Institutes, as well as at San Francisco General Hospital and the UCSF community. By automating and standardizing the capture and filing of run data and associated metadata, the Core improves instrument utilization and ensures that critical research data is safely stored and easily retrieved for analysis and collaboration. Because of the physical distribution of the Gladstone Institutes and its affiliated organizations (a total of 5 campuses), providing a safe, secure and simple means of accessing and sharing data regardless of location offers a compelling benefit to the Core. With its web-based architecture and powerful, secure administration and permissions capabilities, Biotrue CDMS delivers on this promise, allowing researchers to collaborate regardless of location.
